Terms of Service

1. Who you are contracting with

You are contracting with RiverVent LLC, the operator of this service. Contact us through our support page. You confirm you are old enough to enter a contract where you live and, if you use WhatSnap for an organisation, that you may bind it.

2. What WhatSnap does

WhatSnap analyzes a photo from your camera or photo library on your device. It returns a likely name, category, confidence score, useful details, visible text, and other possible matches.

3. Important accuracy limits

Identifications are predictions, not facts. WhatSnap can be confidently wrong. Do not rely on it for anything safety-critical: it is not medical, veterinary, legal, financial, nutritional, or foraging advice, and it must not be used to decide whether something is safe to eat, touch, take, or ingest. Always verify with a qualified professional or authoritative source before acting.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or invade anyone’s privacy.
• Photograph people for surveillance, tracking, identification of individuals, or harassment.
• Upload unlawful, abusive, or sexually exploitative imagery.
• Probe, scrape, overload, reverse engineer or resell the service.
• Share your account credentials or resell access as a service.

You are responsible for the photos you submit, for having the right to submit them, and for how you use the results. We may remove content, filter outputs, or suspend accounts that break these rules. WhatSnap is intended for normal personal use; unusually high-volume, automated or abusive activity against our cloud delivery may be temporarily rate-limited to protect service quality for everyone.

5. Your content and our IP

You keep all rights to the photos you submit. Identification, Deep Analyze and follow-up questions run on your own device, so those photos are not uploaded to us at all. WhatSnap, its software, branding, and design remain ours; you get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service under your subscription. If you believe content processed through WhatSnap infringes your rights, contact us through the support page and we will review it; repeat infringement ends access.

When you send a Smart Snap, you are asking us to hold that photo, its short understanding and any note you add just long enough to deliver it. Smart Snaps can be opened once: our copy is deleted as soon as the recipient opens it, and an unopened Smart Snap expires after 7 days. Until it is opened, anyone with the link can be the person who opens it. This includes anyone the link is forwarded to. Only send photos you are happy for the recipient to see and that you have the right to share.

6. Plan, billing, and cancellation

WhatSnap costs $4.99 per month. It is billed monthly in advance and renews automatically until cancelled. The single plan includes every feature. There are no tiers, add-ons, or per-scan packs.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are covered by Paddle’s Buyer Terms. You can cancel any time from Manage subscription on your account page; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, then the subscription simply ends.

7. Availability

We work to keep WhatSnap available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Features, models, and limits may change as the product develops.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or serious and repeated misuse. You may close your account at any time. On termination your entitlement record is removed; scan history stored in your browser is yours to keep or clear.

9. Warranties and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on this page with a new date. These terms are governed by the laws of the operator’s place of establishment, and disputes will be heard by the courts there, without limiting any mandatory protection you have as a consumer in your own country of residence.
